How a dictation goes
Three steps, and one of them is talking.
Setup happens once. You download a speech model and activate your license. After that, recognition runs on your computer, online or off. If you turn on AI cleanup, it sends text to a provider you pick. It never sends audio.
Put your cursor where the words should go
Click into the email or document you are writing. Press your shortcut, or click the thin bar at the bottom of the screen. It opens into the green capsule and starts listening.
Talk, then let go
The bars follow your voice. Let go of the shortcut or press stop, and the model you downloaded turns the recording into text on your own computer.
Keep writing
JesType pastes the text into the field you were in, and the capsule shows a check with the word count. If an app blocks pasting, copy the text from History.

Does it require an internet connection?
Speech recognition runs on your device after downloading a model. Internet is needed for setup, licensing checks, updates, and optional cloud AI cleanup. Audio is not sent to a transcription service.
Will it slow down my computer?
Recognition uses your computer's resources. Speed and memory depend on the model, recording length, and hardware. Model download size is not the same as running memory use. Try the free trial on your own computer.

Which apps does it work with?
JesType pastes into the focused text field in your apps. Some protected fields, application permissions, or keyboard configurations can block insertion; you can copy the result manually instead.
Is my voice data private?
Yes. Audio is recognized and stored on your device, and JesType never uploads it. The one exception is optional AI cleanup with a cloud provider, which is off by default. When you turn it on, it sends transcript text, never audio, to the provider you configure. A local server option keeps cleanup on your computer.
What hardware do I need?
Mac: Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, or M4) running macOS 13.4 or later. Windows: Any 64-bit PC running Windows 10 or later. Intel Macs are not supported.

Can I use JesType without Wi-Fi?
Yes, speech recognition works without Wi-Fi once a model is downloaded and your cached license is valid. Initial setup, periodic license validation, updates, and optional cloud cleanup need a connection.
What AI models does JesType support?
JesType offers Parakeet V3 for multilingual recognition and Moonshine Medium Streaming for English. Models download separately. Try them with your microphone, language, and vocabulary to choose the right fit.
What is offline dictation?
Offline dictation is speech-to-text software that recognizes your voice on your device, with no internet connection needed for recognition. The model runs locally, so your audio never leaves your computer. JesType does this with Parakeet and Moonshine models on Mac and Windows.
What is a speech to text app with no subscription?
